Shared Space is a month long open air exhibition within the heart of Hackney Wick. Follow our map and take a walk around the area to explore projects from; Ash Sakula, dRMM, Hawkins\Brown, Haworth Tompkins, Mikhail Riches and pH+ Architects alongside information from key thinkers and makers.
With a focus on ‘People, Place and Policy’ it is a collaborative project that celebrates shared spaces within the locale. Using the now ubiquitous language of the planning notice, a series of posters along the walk will track the flexible living and working spaces that are, and yet to be. Hackney Wick is undergoing dramatic change and the exhibition and evolving dialogue investigates the positive aspects of the hidden, existing and emerging social and physical contexts of the area alongside the Creative Community spaces. How can designers and developers help to preserve these traits within the boundaries of planning policy? Can we help to inform future policies? How can future developments ensure all stakeholders benefit? These are a few of the questions we would like to investigate. This is just the start of our journey and we would love for you to share your thoughts and aspirations and join the ongoing exploration.
